The ferry, with 450 people on board on 16 April 2014, was reported sinking off the south-western coast of South Korea while en route from the port of Incheon, west of Seoul, to Jeju Island. The passengers were mostly secondary school students on a field trip to Jeju island. The Coast Guard dispatched patrol boats and aircraft for rescue operations are under way.
